A Liar Mouse

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood.
A fox saw the mouse, and the mouse looked good.

"Where are you going to, little brown mouse?
Come and have lunch in my underground house."

"It's terribly kind of you, Fox, but no–
I'm going to have lunch with a gruffalo."

 "A gruffalo?  What's a gruffalo?"
"A gruffalo!  Why, didn't you know?

“He has terrible tusks, and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws.”

“Where are you meeting him?”
“Here, by these rocks, and his favourite food is roasted fox.”

“Roasted fox! I’m off!” Fox said.
“Goodbye, little mouse,” and away he sped.

“Silly old Fox! Doesn’t he know, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo?”

On went the mouse through the deep dark wood. An owl saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.

“Where are you going to, little brown mouse? Come and have tea in my treetop house.”

“It’s frightfully nice of you, Owl, but no– I am going to have tea with a Gruffalo.”

“A Gruffalo? What’s a Gruffalo?”
“A Gruffalo! Why, didn’t you know?”

“He has knobbly knees, and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose.”

“Where are you meeting him?”
“Here, by this stream, and his favourite food is owl ice cream.”

“Owl ice cream? Toowhit toowhoo!
Goodbye, little mouse,” and away Owl flew.
“Silly old Owl! Doesn’t he know, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo!”

On went the mouse through the deep dark wood. A snake saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.

“Where are you going to little brown mouse? Come and have a snack in my backyard.”

“It’s horribly sweet of you, Snake, but no–
I am going to have a snack with a Gruffalo.”

“A Gruffalo? What’s a Gruffalo?”
“A Gruffalo! Why, didn’t you know?”

“He has a shabby vertically ears, and dreadful yellow eyes, and horrible thorns in his odd wide back.”

“Where are you meeting him?”
“Here, by this lake, and his favourite food is fried spicy snake.”

“Fried spicy snake? I would rather go!
Goodbye, little mouse,” and away Snake crept.

“Silly old Snake! Doesn’t he know, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo!”

Little brown mouse on went back to his house. He walked alone through the deep dark wood. When he arrived at his house, he prepared his lunch, tea, and snack in front of his house and ready to served all of it to himself.

While the mouse was enjoying himself, fox, who was still running fast, ran into an owl who was flying in frightened.

“What are you flying from, Owl?”
“A Gruffalo! His favourite food is owl ice cream!”

Then, there came the snake who was creeping in fear. Snake were stopped by fox and owl.

“What are you creeping from, Snake?”
“A Gruffalo! His favourite food is fried spicy snake!”

“Then, what are you running from, Fox?”
“A Gruffalo! His favourite food is roasted fox!”

Fox, owl, and snake then saw each other. They thought of a coincidence that was very strange with what was said by little brown mouse.

Finally, they gathered around and decided to go to the mouse’s house.
They met the little brown mouse was in his house all alone with no company or even a gruffalo.

At the moment, they all knew that the mouse was lying.
